Miracle League Field

The City of Sanger is proud to champion inclusion and opportunity through our support of the Miracle League—a program that makes baseball accessible for children of all abilities. We’re thrilled to announce that the Sanger City Council has approved the addition of a Miracle League Field as part of the new Porter Park East development, a project that directly aligns with the goals outlined in our Sanger 2040 Plan. Construction of Porter Park will take place in phases, with Phase 1 featuring the Miracle League Field and its supporting amenities, including accessible playgrounds, concessions, restrooms, shaded seating, and parking designed to serve players and families. Future phases will expand the park with additional youth baseball fields, court sports, walking paths, and more community recreation areas. Founder donations to help bring the Miracle League Field to life will open soon, offering the opportunity to be part of this incredible, inclusive milestone for Sanger.

What is The Miracle League? It’s Hope, Determination,

and a display of human spirit that is unequaled.

And of course…there’s baseball

There is something about playing the game that lights up a youngster’s eyes. But for individuals facing physical and mental disabilities, that opportunity can often be difficult to achieve. Baseball diamonds weren’t exactly designed with wheelchairs and mobility devices in mind. Baseball programs didn’t consider individuals with special cognitive needs. The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children and adults with special abilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. The Miracle League serves individuals with any physical or cognitive disabilities, which can cause them to be excluded from typical youth baseball leagues.

Since many barriers arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional youth leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized field that accommodates mobility devices while helping to prevent injuries. But it’s more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about being part of a team, making new friends, building self-esteem, and being treated like other kids. To help the athletes, The Miracle League uses a “buddy” system—pairing each player with a peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described.

The first Miracle League field opened in Conyers, Georgia, in April 2000. We now have 320+ Miracle League Organizations in the nation, plus Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. Our programs serve more than 450,000 children and adults around the globe. The Miracle League has an aggressive plan to help many more communities build all-inclusive Miracle League complexes. Our players may not be able to run the bases or hit the ball as well as some of their peers, but they have an equal amount of love and determination to play.
