Mission Statement

The Public Works Department is dedicated to ensuring that the infrastructure of the city is constructed and maintained to the highest standard in order to protect the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Sanger.  Our goal is to provide responsive and courteous service.  Our employees are highly trained and are committed to providing outstanding customer service.

The Public Works Department provides vital public services through planning, engineering, constructing, inspecting, operating and maintaining Sanger's public infrastructure.  This is accomplished by maintaining the streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, street and traffic signs,  pavement markings, drainage, water meters and meter reading, waterline and wastewater systems by repairing streets, water line repair, cleaning sewer lines, mowing right-of-ways and street sign repair and replacement.


The Public Works Department consists of six divisions which oversee:

  • Streets and Drainage Maintenance
  • Water Utilities and Maintenance
  • Waste Water Collection
  • Fleet Maintenance

The Public Works Department strives to be a best-in-class organization by providing the following core services:

  • Maintain a "superior" rated, safe drinking water system
  • Provide a high degree of customer service and satisfaction
  • Develop, build and maintain a high quality transportation infrastructure

  • Ensure the most cost effective and efficient investment of tax payers dollars on infrastructure
  • Promote conservation of natural resources
  • Ensure integrity of our storm water drainage systems to minimize loss of public and private property
  • Provide continuous employee and leadership development
  • Build a positive, productive and engaged workforce that supports the City's mission and strategic goals
  • Ensure adherence to State guidelines by maintaining professional licenses and certifications through T.C.E.Q.
  • Adhere to the Federal and State regulations set forth by the E.P.A and T.C.E.Q.
