Accountability and financial transparency are the foundation of a well-managed and open government. The City of Sanger has made government transparency a top priority.
The City of Sanger financial policies set forth the basic framework for the fiscal management of the City. These policies were developed within the parameters established by applicable provisions of the Texas Local Government Code and the Sanger City Charter. The policies are intended to assist the City Council and city staff in evaluating current activities and proposals for future programs. The policies are to be reviewed on an annual basis and modified to accommodate changing circumstances or conditions.
Budgets and Financial Reports
The following data is derived from the City’s government-wide Statement of Activities in the Annual Financial Report. The government-wide financial statements are reported using the economic resources measurement focus and the accrual basis of accounting. Under the accrual basis of accounting, revenues are recognized when earned and expenses recognized at the time the liability is incurred.
HB 1378 Documents
The 84th Legislature passed HB 1378 to increase the transparency of local government debt. Under Local Government Code §140.008, political subdivisions, including counties, cities, school districts, junior college districts, special purpose districts, and other subdivisions of state government must annually compile their debt obligation data from the preceding fiscal year. The City of Sanger has opted to report it to the Comptroller of Public Accounts Website for posting.
